Soyabeans should be eaten in moderation
Felicity Lawrence of Guardian Unlimited reported that westerners are now consuming too large an amount of soyabeans. Parrots were dying as the result of eating soya beans. A look at historic soyabeans consumption in Japan and China concluded that Asians did not actually eat that much. What they did eat tended to have been fermented for months and others were cooked through various cooking processes. However for the west, people are into health fads and are eating soya steaks and veggie burgers or veggie sausages and drinking soya milk - they are getting over 100g a day. They are eating tonnes of the raw stuff, she added. Chineses eat in moderation and cook them in different processes to minimize the potential side effects. We do use soya sauce everyday but it was processed through many months of fermentation thereby breaking down the plant oestrogens. A cup of soya milk per day is moderation. If you are a vegetarian your breakfast, lunch and dinner will probably be vegetarian chicken, vegetarian meat, vegetarian duck, vegetarian pork, vegetarian burger and vegetarian milk - all made from soya beans. That is excessive and it is not healthy. If you are a vegetarian, eat primary vegetables rather than processed soya products. Primary vegetables are unprocessed food. Leafy vegetables, carrots, beans, roots and herbs which are unprocessed are great source of primary vegetables.Advantages of eating soya beans in moderation
According to Professor Kondo Shoji from Tohoku University in Japan, people in regions which have higher use of soyabeans have longer life span. Soyabeans have been used for many centuries in China for treating edema, iron-deficiency anemia, constipation, common cold, skin diseases, diarrhea, leg ulcers to various symptoms of pregnancy. Women in China promote lactation by consuming soyabeans. They don't eat them raw. They dry the soyabeans and steamed them with turnips and gingers to be eaten with meals. Soyabeans have the advantage of having medicinal value if taken in moderation. They should not be eaten as processed food. Like all foods - vegetables, meats or whatever eatable, we should eat them in moderation. Diversify our foods for a healthier life style.
